The Association is Dis-want based at Scrignac, Finistere was started over four years ago as an idea of a group of friends, Breton, French and British. The title of the association is an allusion to the Breton word “diwan” (a Breton School), “dis” being French for speak and “want” the English for “vouloir”, therefore “we want to speak to each other”.
The objectives of the association are to further understanding and friendship between members by means of social interaction. With the support of our Maire, Marcel Coant we meet at the salle polyvalante once a month on a Thursday to discuss what the group want to do for the next four weeks and any other business.
We use topics (cultural, topical, historical), games (Scrabble, Lotto, Dice and card games) and discussion in order to stimulate communication in French and English. In addition, we have trips to the cinema, concerts, walks in the summer, and several soirees in the year. We play petanque every Sunday at 15.00 on the village square if the weather is fine or in the petanque courts if the weather is bad.
For the last three years, we have held a vide-grenier in July and have been able to make sizeable contributions to the commune. Members of the group try to attend as many local events as possible. We look forward to new members living in the commune and surrounding area, so that we can make new friends, improve our language skills and learn more about the commune we live in.

Le titre de l'association est une allusion au mot breton "Diwan" (une école bretonne), "DIS" être français pour parler et «Want» l'anglais pour "Vouloir", donc "nous voulons parler les uns aux autres".
Les objectifs de l'association sont de favoriser la compréhension et l'amitié entre les membres par des moyens d'interaction sociale. Avec le soutien de notre maire, Marcel Coant nous rencontrons à la salle de Reunion une fois par mois sur un jeudi pour discuter de ce que le groupe veut faire pour les quatre prochaines semaines et de toute autre entreprise.
Nous utilisons des thèmes (culture, actualité, historique), jeux (scrabble, loto, jeux de cartes et de dés) et les discussions en vue de stimuler la communication en français et en anglais. De plus, nous avons aller au cinéma, concerts, promenades en été, et plusieurs soirées dans l'année. Nous jouer à la pétanque tous les dimanches à 15.00 sur la place du village si le temps le permet ou dans les tribunaux de pétanque si le temps est mauvais.
Pour les trois dernières années, nous avons tenu un Vide-Grenier en Juillet et avons été en mesure d'apporter des contributions importantes à la commune. Les membres du groupe essaient de participer à autant d'événements locaux que possible. Nous nous réjouissons de nouveaux membres vivant dans la commune et ses environs, de sorte que nous pouvons faire de nouveaux amis, d'améliorer nos compétences linguistiques et en apprendre davantage sur la commune dans lequel nous vivons
